3. 3rd XI Captain’s Report 2012

WVCC 3rd XI Captain’s Report 2012

As with most seasons, consistent availability and injuries were an issue with Vandals 3rd XI. Using 49 players over the season, you can see how difficult winning each week can be. In the end we only lost 4 games, winning 2, drawing 6, whilst 2 games were abandoned due to the weather.

In terms of batting, there were some great achievements through out the year with Kiran Maharaja hitting two half centuries, Adrian Waldock’s knock of 54 and Aijay Dayal’s quick 50. The star with the bat was Mick Roche, making a half century twice and with an average of 43 from just 7 games played, before being called up to the 2nd XI. The stand out performance however was Sandi Sundar with 110 away at Chobham, his first century for the club

We struggled to find a consistent wicket taker and twice being within two wickets of a win, but having to settle for a winning draw. The top wicket taker this season was young 18 year old Anish Kulkarni with an average of 11.5.

A thank-you goes to so many players who played this year, but in particular a special mention to youngsters Dale Merryweather and Suchin Kumar who had some great performances through-out the season.
