Dias cleans out Staines

Staines got off to a quick start after some initial wayward bowling and they took advantage of 2 WVCC late arrival and were soon 20-0. As the players arrived 3 wickets fell. Anderson batted well for 25 playing straight. After Anderson and Bonnick fell Staines were reduced to 53-6. Veterans Peter Bower (18) and David Gyves (28*) batted with resilience and slowly turned the innings round with a partnership of 56. Staines were finally all out for 127 after 3 quick wickets from off spinner Chulana Dias. The bowling unit of left arm seamer Suchin Kumar, outswing bowler James Martin and slow left arm bowlers Liam Connaughton and Surmesh Dadhwal all got wickets and bowled tightly.

In reply Liam Connaughton 8 and Adrian Waldock 11 got off to a steady start before both fell. Chulana Dias after being dropped early on took the attack to Staines and finished with 50*. Surmesh Dadhwal finished with 15* and was very solid on the run chase trying to calm the belligerent Chulana Dias down but Chulana continued to play his own game as WVCC completed the run chase with 5 wickets and 5 overs to spare. Veteran David Gyves and youngster Nathan Herring bowled well for Staines.
